Here are some cute stories and things our kids have said lately. I wanted to blog about them so I wouldn't forget them. I realize most of them are from Levi. He is at that age I suppose.
Seth told me recently he needs more action-ative days. I guess he isn't getting enough exercise.
Levi: "For the Love of Pete and all of my France." huh?
Levi saw a "piece of lightning the other day". Have you ever seen a piece of lightning?
Did you know there are "counterfake" things, and you can have a great "bisteriance" (aka experience).
Levi was picking flowers for me one day (they were weeds but my sweet boy didn't know better) and he told me he as looking for "one of those wish-come-trues". After talking with him about it I figured out he meant dandelions because someone told him to make a wish before blowing them. Wish-come-trues would make a great name, don't you think? Makes perfect sense in context.
Seth: "I am not sure I like hockey. All the fighting makes me tense."
Abigail: So-and-so betraded such-and-such.
Levi heard the song "Oh Night-Di-vine" and said "Mommy, why are they singing Oh Migh-ty Vite". (We call him our mighty vite.)
Randy to the boys last weekend: Where should we go for our haircuts, Floyds or SportsClips?
Seth: We can't go to Floyds. They have inappropriate pictures of naked ladies on their walls. (They have vintage record album covers on the walls and some of them have scantily clad women.)
Levi: I want to go to Floyds. I like naked ladies and I think they are appropriate.
*Guess we are going to have to keep our eyes on him especially as he gets older....
From things I posted on facebook for those of you not on facebook:
Levi: "Mommy, will I get to see the guy who wrote the 10 Commandments down in heaven someday?". When I said yes, he said "Yes! THAT ROCKS!!!". He is always cracking me up.
While Abigail and I went to a halloween party, Randy took Seth and Levi to a football game. Seth liked the football. Levi liked the nachos and the cheerleaders. Hmmm......
Levi: "I am sucking the juice out of my candy corn." Hmmm....
Levi: "Mommy, don't worry about the bikini song I learned at school. Bikini is only a little part. It goes Make new friends, bikini ole. One is silver, the other's gold."
Levi: "Mommy, is Daddy coming home for dinner or is he in His-ami?". (Randy calls it "My-ami" so Levi thinks he should call it "His-ami". Cracks me up every time.)

Long and Long Overdue Post
Today I was going through pictures and realized it has been a long time since I updated on a bunch of things. The Rowland Crew has been busy!
Because you all are so amazing, Team Might raised over $10,000 for the Light the Night Walk. We were invited to a reception and a Stars game because of it. The kids had a great time. My brother went with us, too.

There were 4 fights in the first period (we only stayed for the first period because it was a school night). Seth said the game was ok, but he didn't think hockey was his favorite sport because all the fighting made him tense. Very intuitive of him we thought.

Cotton candy anyone?

We have decided rather than exchanging gifts with our cousins Addison and Aubrey for Christmas, we are going to have a Cousin Event instead. We figure the kids will never remember what lego set or book or barbie they got each year, but they will remember a tradition like this - much more meaningful. We were going to go to the Children's Parade this year, but then it got down to about 25 the night before and we were going to have to get there by 7 to get seats to watch the parade that didn't start until 10. So we chickened out due to the cold. Everyone came to our house and we decorated cookies and ate chili instead. It was very fun - although none of the adults would eat any of the cookies the kids decorated -way too much licking of the fingers and icing going on!
Maybe Aubrey will have more fun next year when she can participate more.

Levi is taking Tae Kwon Do Little Ninja's. He tested on the 10th for his yellow belt. He was so excited.
All geared up for the test.

Receiving his yellow belt.

With Mr. Strickland, his instructor.

Last Friday Levi had his port removed - woohoo! This means if he gets fever in the future, we get to treat it normally and not rush of the the hospital at all hours of the day or night. The surgery was pretty minor and it was outpatient.
A picture of his port taken the night before surgery. We figure some day he will want to know what it was like and not be able to remember.

Relaxing in bed with my own remote!

Surgery was a bit delayed, so we got a little goofy!
The long-promised large lollipop for after his surgery. Every time he got nervous we reminded him he would get this and it made everything better.

Next up: Christmas parties at school, fun activities, and finally Christmas Day!

Snow!
Yesterday morning we looked outside and saw snow! We couldn't believe it! The kids were VERY excited. It wasn't cold enough to stick to the roads, so school wasn't canceled. They had lots of fun playing in it before getting on the bus, though. By late morning it was all melted, so I am glad they had a few minutes in it. There is a chance it might snow again on Friday. Is this Texas? Twice in one week?

The snow caught us so off guard, I had not dug out the gloves and hats yet this winter. The kids got cold playing in it. Levi said to me later, "I wish there could be snow when it is hot outside. It was too cold.". :)

Thanksgiving
We had a great Thanksgiving in East Texas with Randy's mom and family. It is always good to see everyone, and our kids had a wonderful time with 2 of their cousins and many extended cousins. I love having a holiday dedicated to remembering all we have to be thankful for.
The kids think it is torture, but as soon as we get to the house were everyone gathers for the day I make us take pictures. If I wait any later they are dirty from playing outside with everyone. I thought we got some pretty good pictures this year.

We had so much fun with Grandma and Uncle Jon, Aunt Emily, Addison and Aubrey. We missed Aunt LeeAnn, Uncle Jeff, and Madeline though!

Grandma has a closet in her house where she stores toys for the kids. They all congregate there and end up playing in it. And Aubrey's playpen even went in there at night for her to sleep in - I guess it is a great place to play and to sleep. :)

Sweet Aubrey. I sure did enjoy holding her - I have to get my baby fixes when I can these days.

Seth had a great time with Daddy and Uncle Jon taking apart our dvd player for our car. While we were driving to Longview it quit working, so Seth wanted to see what the inside looked like.

Levi was so excited to realize he and Daddy had almost matching shirts.

On Sunday after we got home, Abigail and I went to see the Nutcracker. We had lots of fun there with our friends Erica and Carly, and she loved the ballet.

Hair cuts and dolls
This past weekend Randy took the boys for haircuts. He took them to a new barbershop that was having it's grand opening. After they left Seth told Randy, "We shouldn't go there again, Daddy. There are inappropriate pictures on the walls.". Randy was so busy giving instructions for the boys hair and getting his own hair cut that he had not really looked around. Apparently there were old record covers on the walls that had scantily clad women on them. He has told Randy several times since then that he does not want to go back there. These pictures made him uncomfortable. Such sweet innocence.
The lady who cut Levi's hair styled it in a mohawk when she was finished cutting. He loved it! He has asked us to fix it that way almost every day since. I never envisioned myself as a mom who would like her son's hair in a mohawk, but it suits his personality and it makes him happy. So it makes us happy, too. He tried to convince Seth to do his hair that way also. Seth was not interested. Their personalities are so different, and we love them both for who they are and hope we always remember to appreciate and nurture them as individuals instead of pushing them to be alike.

On Sunday Abigail's friend Claire invited her to go the American Girl Store and have lunch at the Bistro. Claire worked hard to earn this, and we were very happy to be invited to go. I have been wanting to take Abigail there for quite a while, so it was great to have this motivation to finally get there. Abigail and Claire had a wonderful time. They got their dolls ears pierced. It is amazing all the things they have come up with there. It has just about anything a young girl can imagine. The girls (and their mommys!) enjoyed lunch, looking around, and visiting. Caitlyn (Claire's baby sister) was so patient and sweet the whole time, too.
Eating lunch. Notice the dolls have their own chairs to sit in at the table.

Abigail and I ready to go. Abigail doesn't have any of the matching outfits for her and her doll, so she put this outfit together so that they could coordinate.
